The Guardian (Prototype)
Key Features
- The base system of The Guardian is a CCG, however the deck building comes from the equipped items the player character has chosen
- Items are acquired from dropped loot, which each item conferring as series of cards
- For example: A basic, low level sword could give 3 x 2 regular damage cards, 1 critical hit card. A higher level, unique sword could grant higher damage cards but also flame attacks, group attacks and the like
- A shield could provide damage reduction cards from enemy attacks, while armour cards, once acquired and played could grant ongoing damage relief from enemy attacks.
- As the player acquires more experience and levels up, the player can select new skills which will also grant new card abilities or passive abilities such as granting new stat bonuses.
- Each skill for this prototype has 3 levels. There are 3 tiers with 3 different skills per tier with a bonus skill at the end of tier 3
- The player has the opportunity to multi-class should they choose, picking new skills from different classes
- Each tier, regardless of the class the player chooses will change the title or name of their chosen class to add more unique qualities to the build the player chooses. There are 84 total combinations of class names, with each having its own unique name
- The video below shows how the selection of items will affect the chosen cards in the deck
- The video will also showcase how the skill selection and class names would work and how it’s integrated with the third party project CCG Tookit available from the Unreal Marketplace
- Each class will have its own primary Aspect with the player being able to increase any of the 4 aspects as they increase levels
- Aspects will provide the various different types of resource in which the player can spend to draw cards from
- Each slot in the skills trees are a single imported widget to a main skill tree widget
- All system design and technical design and implementation was done by me
- The project is a Work In Progress
